The Pointless Waymarks Feed Reader is a Windows Desktop application for reading content published via RSS and ATOM Feeds.
There are many (many!) choices for feed readers and this program is not for everyone - the ideas behind this reader:
- Local Application, Local Data: The program runs on your computer, data is stored on your computer - no server, no service, no cloud, no sync, no account.
- Desktop Only: There is enough to do in life without following feeds on your phone or accessing them from a web browser anywhere in the world.
- No Folders, Minimal Organization: The focus, reason, for this program is to follow content you care about - blogs that never reach news aggregator sites, niche content, great authors who only publish infrequently - if you feel the need to organize and put feed content into multiple folders this is the wrong Feed Reader for you.
- Linked Content over Feed Content: Some feeds embed all the content from an article/post - some don't... The default for this reader is to show you the content the feed item is linking to rather than the content of the feed.
This software is in Beta, free and completely 'as-is' - there is no paid option and no promise of support. The code is available on GitHub.
This software is part of the Pointless Waymarks Project. The Pointless Waymarks Project is a set of applications that are connected by a focus on durable, rich, low maintenance, free, long-lasting, organized, content, stories, photos, location data and minutiae about the landscape, life, place, history and nature -- and by a love of programming, learning, craftsmanship and creating!
